Works In Progress:

Nemetona (2024)

Nemetona is a neurodivergent AI who has been having a hard time finding just the right Captain. Eli, having been asked to retire from being Unity Ambassador so that Rev. Marsha Brooks can take over, was at loose ends. When the AI psychologist recommends that Eli become Nemetona’s new Captain, both of them are unsure. However, it ends up being a perfect match and leads them both on a journey of discovery that neither of them thought they would take.

Control (Late 2024/Early 2025)

Nan Spencer wakes up one day on Hestia with no memories, no past, and a neurodivergence that allows her to become John Smith’s top spy at the Library. Jessica is a child on Olympia who’s neurodivergence and aptitude for spycraft emerges while Nan is on planet for a well deserved vacation. Nan takes Jessica under her wing, training her as a Librarian and giving her a purpose. Set in the time between Survey and Unity, Nan and Jessica reveal hidden truths that will set the stage for protecting not only the soul of the nation of Survey, but the future of humanity.

Zeno’s Quicksand (2025)

Approximately twenty years after Mercury leaves Survey space, Captain Janis, his nephew Nico, and the rest of the crew are celebrating their approach to the halfway point between the Milky Way and Andromeda. When Mercury suddenly shuts down, leaving the ship stranded, the crew, along with the Elders that have taken residence on the ship, fight to survive in near total darkness. When they miss their regular check-in with Survey, Loki and Nemetona are sent to figure out what happened. What the AIs and their crews find, however, is much more than they, and Mercury’s crew, could ever have imagined.

If you prefer audiobooks, you can tune into the Tales from Flat Space podcast. I read live, weekly, on my Twitch stream (Schedule subject to change. Check out my channel for the current reading schedule.). The edited podcast will be posted approximately one week after the live stream. You can subscribe via the links below or listen via the embedded player here and on each book’s page.

While I keep the podcast free for anyone to listen to, there is a lot of work that goes into recording and editing these podcasts. If you listen to these podcasts regularly, please consider sending a tip my way through Ko-fi.
